In tandem with our latest development to make the [new item creation and submission flow more accessible](https://www.peoplegoal.com/blog/feature-release-new-item-creation-flow), PeopleGoal has been able to create a new recognition app that is easy to use, whilst also facilitating powerful results.

The update to the item creation function essentially enables any employee to preview the item or form prior to creating it. This is significant for recognition as it will allow an employee to look through the type of response or recognition they would like to give before the recipient is notified of their inclusion within the item. On top of this, having the option to preview an item will also encourage the user to more regularly explore the [types of recognition that they can give](https://www.peoplegoal.com/blog/driving-employee-engagement-using-recognition-badges).

## Recognition in the Workplace

The image above provides a representation of how the preview function works. When an employee creates a new item to give their recognition, they are able to select the recipient as well as [the message they would like to share with them](https://www.peoplegoal.com/blog/positive-feedback-for-colleagues-examples-and-tips). Through using this new function, __an employee can give recognition in a matter of minutes__.

With such an accessible system for giving recognition, this process will promote much stronger feelings of sentiment among team members. [Collaboration](https://www.peoplegoal.com/blog/remote-employee-onboarding-tips) on tasks or great displays of teamwork can be recorded and celebrated through this tool for recognition. Secondly, we've made a small change to how items are handled upon submission. Previously, users were taken back to the app home screen after item submission. For apps with multiple states and the same participant, this was confusing as the user would have to re-open the item to continue working on it in the next state. This is now improved with the item submission redirecting users to the same item in the new state immediately after submission.

## Dashboard Key Features

Our newly designed Dashboard is a real homepage now, where you can take the actions you need as you log in.

### Quick create

The quick create menu is intended to allow users to quickly perform common actions. We've added the ability for app owners to tag their apps as __included in the quick create menu.__ This allows your app to appear in the quick create menu for all users who have permission to access it:

Apps that have webforms enabled will include a link to the webform that can be copied to your clipboard. The full list of apps and workspaces is still available in the sidebar.

### Omni-search bar

Often users are logging in to find information relevant to them. We've replaced the old user search functionality that sat in the sidebar with a new omni-search bar in the dashboard header. This search functionality allows you to search for pretty much anything on your PeopleGoal account: items, apps, teams and users.

### Profile snippets

What's important to users in your company is often not the same as another company. With profile snippets we've given you the ability to display certain fields from your profile templates on the user dashboard. For example, if you would like to display the user's role or date of last promotion, you can tag these fields from the user profile template and they will appear as below in the user dashboard.

### Teams & Relationships

Your teams are listed below your profile snippets. This list is just the teams to which you belong - all teams are still available from the sidebar. Similarly, your default relationship (typically Manager) is shown below that, highlighting your counterpart users (e.g. manager / direct reports). This provides quick links to browse your colleagues' profiles.

### Company news

Sharing company news on your dashboard is a great way to inform users of important news or events. We've enhanced the Posts functionality to allow account owners to tag a given post as '*display on dashboard*'. This will allow the post to be seen on all users' dashboards as Company News. Posts still retain the ability to comment and render comments inline when expanding the post detail.

### Your timeline

This feature allows you to showcase your journey at your company. It's a retrospective look at key events in your career. The timeline can be populated automatically:

- App owners can trigger rules to create timeline events in the app state rules builder.
- Account owners can update profile template date fields to enable these to auto-generate timeline events.

Users can update and maintain their own timelines too. For example, if you'd like to add more information to specific events you can double-click on the timeline event to provide that information.

The European Union (EU) is enforcing a new data protection policy called the General Data Protection Requlation (GDPR). The new regulation will come into effect on May 25, 2018. PeopleGoal's GDPR commitment is fully compliant with the new regulation as of the enforcement date (May 25, 2018). The GDPR regulation is designed to harmonize data privacy laws across Europe, to protect and empower all EU citizens' data privacy and to reshape the way organizations across the region approach data privacy. ## Who does the GDPR apply to?

The GDPR regulation applies to all organizations within the European Union (EU) and any organizations located outside of the EU in the case that they offer goods and services or monitor the behaviour of EU persons. Specifically, it applies to all companies processing and holding personal data of persons ("data subjects") residing in the EU.

## How has PeopleGoal's GDPR commitment been created?

We've been actively working to achieve PeopleGoal's GDPR compliance for all our EU customers. Specifically PeopleGoal has:

- Documented the use of personal data in our system
- Introduced a new [privacy policy](https://www.peoplegoal.com/privacy "Privacy Policy") that reflects our obligation towards our customers and users under the GDPR regulation
- Implemented processes to address the sub-processors' requirements under the GDPR regulation
- Made technical changes in our platform to support the enhanced data subjects' rights under the GDPR regulation

## How does PeopleGoal demonstrate compliance with the GDPR?

PeopleGoal's GDPR readiness has been evaluated and we've made the necessary enhancements to our processes to ensure full compliance.

## What is classified as personal data under the GDPR regulation?

Any information related to a data subject that can be used to directly or indirectly identify the person. For example:

- Name
- Email address
- Social network identity
- Bank details
- Medical records

## What personal data does PeopleGoal collect from its users?

When you complete our sign-up form we collect some personal information such as name, email and phone number. For example, to create a trial account we ask only for a name, email and password.

We're excited to share with you one of our latest partner integrations - with [BambooHR](http://www.bamboohr.com "BambooHR")! One of the industry leaders in cloud-based HR solutions, BambooHR's employee database will act as the primary source of users and profile data for PeopleGoal, which means there's no need to duplicate your employee information across two accounts.

Setting up your integration is a simple, step-by-step process which we've outlined below. You'll also find some FAQs around managing your integrated account at the end of this post. ## Setting up your integration: step-by-step

### 1. Navigation

Head to __Configure > Account settings > Integration settings__ and click 'Configure BambooHR integration'.

### 2. Adding an API Key

The API key will allow you to connect your PeopleGoal account to BambooHR. In BambooHR, click __Account > API Keys__ and 'Add a New Key'.

Copy the text in the key field.

In PeopleGoal, under __API Actions__, click 'Add an API Key' and paste the text into the 'API key' field. Add your BambooHR account name as it appears in your subdomain, i.e. peoplegoal for [https://peoplegoal.bamboohr.com](https://peoplegoal.bamboohr.com "PeopleGoal-BambooHR"). That's all you'll need from BambooHR!

### 3. Syncing your Accounts

In PeopleGoal, under __API Actions__, click 'Sync account'. This will start the process of importing your user data from BambooHR's employee database, pulling users, divisions and and departments, as well as your reporting structure. Your status will update to 'In progress' and the process can take a few minutes so you can leave it running in the background.

Once all the data has synced, your status will update to 'Complete' and a confirmation email will be sent to your account Admins. That's it, you're done!

__When I change/delete an employee on PeopleGoal, will it update BambooHR?__

No. BambooHR is the primary source, meaning PeopleGoal will pull your employee information from any changes you make on BambooHR, not the other way round. So for instance, if you've promoted an employee, when entering their new manager, division and department on BambooHR among the other profile changes you'll be making, this will update their manager, department and team on PeopleGoal. Should you delete or mark an employee as inactive on BambooHR, their profile will be deleted on PeopleGoal. You can restore them manually under __Configure > Manage users__ if you'd like to export their goals, feedback and reviews offline.

__Will I need to first create my Company Structure on PeopleGoal?__
Nope! BambooHR's manager, division and department fields correspond to PeopleGoal's manager, department and team fields and will automatically create these for you if you haven't already added your teams and departments.

__Do I need to manually sync my PeopleGoal account to keep it updated?__

PeopleGoal will run a daily deployment to sync with your updated BambooHR account, so you can be sure you're always working with your latest employee information. For major changes like adding a new employee, we recommend manually syncing so that you can start working with their profile immediately. To do this, head to __Configure > Account settings > Integration settings > Configure BambooHR integration__. Under 'API Actions', click 'Re-sync account' and let it run!

### Dashboard & Timeline
Your Dashboard is the most useful module for managing individual goals and company-wide news. It contains all of the key features to set goals and request feedback.

As an Admin you can post company, department or team level news using the 'Share' tool, and as a User you can acknowledge your colleagues' achievements with the 'Recognize' tool - pick from our pre-designed badges or customise your own in Account settings. You go, Glen Coco.

### Account Configuration
We want PeopleGoal to work seamlessly within your company structure, so we've tried to make each module as customisable as possible. Settings for each level of the platform can be changed by Admins in the 'Configure' toolbar. Some of our most useful features are:
